We caught up with Paige Arnof-Fenn, Founder & CEO of Mavens & Moguls, a Marketing, Branding, PR, Market Research & Communications firm that she runs from her home in Cambridge, MA with clients globally. Paige has owned Mavens & Moguls since 2002. We asked Paige for her best growth tip for her business. She came back with a very interesting answer:
Music selection can be a critical decision for managing workflow and defeating distractions. You may want it to hold back the loneliness if you’re a freelancer or solopreneur, but, as our friend Robert McGuire from Nation 1099 (an inspirational site that encourages and empowers entrepreneurs in the gig economy) suggests, you don’t want to constantly have a reason to think things like, “I wonder what Bananarama is up to lately. Let me just check Google real quick.”

Making the transition from an office job isn’t always what people expect. There are different challenges as a remote worker, so we’ve included more of our favorite online resources to make your life easier.
Many of us who work from home have favorite online resources that we swear by. If you are new to working from home, it’s a good idea to try some of these tools and programs that other remote workers have deemed their favorites. Fortunately, since you aren’t the first person to work remotely so you don’t need to recreate the wheel here. Take some pointers from some of our successful freelancing friends and give their favorite resources a try.
Are there enough hours in the day for you? Do you struggle to finish projects or do you get distracted easily? Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. Many people have days where they can’t seem to find the energy or the focus to maximize time. While it’s a common problem, it’s great to find strategies, like the Pomodoro Technique, to improve productivity.
